Day 1: DEPART USA
Overnight flight to Rome.

Day 2: ARRIVE ROME
Welcome to Rome, the Eternal City! The city stands on the Tiber river and enjoys a long and celebrated history. Relax after your journey. Later, meet your Travel Director and fellow travellers for a Welcome Reception. Then an orientation drive will show you the Tiber and St. Peter's Basilica - a perfect introduction to the sights which await you!

Day 3: ROME SIGHTSEEING - MONTECATINI (TUSCAN HILLS) (6 NIGHTS)
Your expert Local Guide takes you on a guided sightseeing tour starting at the Vatican City. Visit St. Peter's Basilica and then enjoy a small group sightseeing visit inside the Sistine Chapel. Cross the Tiber River and see the Forum, centre of daily life in ancient Rome. View the Colosseum − the largest built in the Roman Empire − where public events and gladiatorial contests were held. Later, enjoy a spectacular scenic drive through the Tuscan Hills to the spa resort of Montecatini, your home for the next six nights!(Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)

Day 4: SAN GIMIGNANO AND SIENA EXCURSION
Explore San Gimignano known as the ‘medieval Manhattan’, famed for its ring of towers which can be seen several kilometers from town. Shop for locally produced delicacies and hand-painted Tuscan pottery. Later, in Siena, see the Piazza del Campo, scene of the celebrated annual Palio horse race, and the stunning marble Cathedral which dominates the town.(Buffet Breakfast)

Day 5: PISA AND VINCI EXCURSION
In the coastal town of Pisa see the famous Leaning Tower, the finely sculpted marble Cathedral and the ornate Baptistery. Then travel to the scenic Tuscan town of Vinci where you will hear all about the life of Leonardo da Vinci and enjoy an included visit to the Museo Leonardiano containing some of his work. Day 6: MONTECATINI AT LEISURE

Day 7: FLORENCE EXCURSION
Your expert Local Guide gives you a fascinating account of the history of Renaissance Florence during your walking tour. See the magnificent Duomo and Piazza Signoria. View the Ponte Vecchio bridge, one of the city's most famous landmarks. Day 8: FLORENCE EXCURSION
Return to Florence today to utilise your included 'hop-on hop-off' sightseeing ticket. After some time for sightseeing and shopping, you may decide to take an optional excursion to the Accademia to see Michelangelo's David - possibly the most famous sculpture in the world.(Buffet Breakfast)

Day 9: MONTECATINI (TUSCAN HILLS) - ASSISI - ROME

Just returned from our first Trafalgar Tour. What a wonderful experience! Our TD. Marisa Anderton was outstanding- knowledgable, entertaining and willing to go the extra distance to insure all her guests were happy and healthy. Our driver Fabio astounded us with his ability to get us places safely.

This tour had an excellent itinerary ( Rome, Pisa, Montecatini, Assisi, Florence, Cinque Terre etc.) that was made even better due to the "At Leisure" component of the trip. Accommodations were fine.

Loved SAn Giminangno. What an amazing palce- especially given that it was our only rainy day. Great gelato too!

Our optional excursion to the Italian Riviera- Cinque Terre was outstanding-- the scenery, the view from the water and the overall experience of the different communities was wonderful.

Meals were fine. TWo outstanding meals were in Montecatini. One was at a restaurant called Il Vicolo. Just a wonderful meal and so reasonable. The other was in Montecatini Alto at Ristorante W.O.W. It was a wow meal. A group of us ( 15) went up to Montecatini Alto by the funicular and had a wonderful meal - everything from sea bass to steak to duck. The staff was so accommodating and everything was delicious. It is hard to please 15 people but they  did it. Excellent view from the restaurant.

One thing that stayed with us was our return trip through Umbria on our way back to Rome from Assisi. Beautiful scenery. Also, Cinque Terre was so breathtaking from the  water.
Starting to think about our next trip already.
