Easy: The walks rated
"easy" cover 4 - 6 miles over the course of the day on gentle, rolling
terrain. Short climbs of up to 400 feet and walks on unpaved paths may be
included. Options of shorter and longer segments are available most days.
Easy to Moderate: The majority of our walks are designated "easy to
moderate." Some of the walks are as previously described, while other walks
may range from 5 - 9 miles on rolling terrain, with a few climbs of up to
900 feet. Most walks are on unpaved paths and trails. You should feel
comfortable walking at least 5 - 6 hours over the course of the day. Options
of shorter (with a vehicle shuttle) and longer segments are available some
days.
Moderate: One or more of the following factors may be present: climbs
of up to 2,000 feet, uneven footpaths and on Peru: Mystical Machu Picchu
walks at elevations of 9,000 - 13,000 feet.
Moderate to Challenging: Most days call for walks of 6 - 14 miles on
rolling to hilly and rugged terrain. One or more of the following factors
may be present: climbs of up to 3,000 feet, uneven footpaths and walking at
higher altitudes.
Challenging: All days call for walks of 6 - 14 miles on rolling to
hilly and rugged terrain. One or more of the following factors may be
present: climbs of up to 4,000 feet, uneven footpaths and walking at higher
altitudes. Some days include an inn-to-inn itinerary where vehicle support
is limited. |
