DAY 1, Sat
Depart the USA to Sicily. Your flight includes meals, drinks,
and in-flight entertainment for your journey
DAY 2, Sun Arrive in Palermo and transfer to your hotel.
This evening, enjoy an orientation with your tour manager,
followed by a welcome reception with dinner at the hotel (D):
PALERMO
DAY 3, Mon This morning, travel to Monreale and visit the
Norman Cathedral, famous for its Byzantine and Sicilian mosaics.
Continue to visit the Old City of Palermo, where you will admire
such sights as the Norman Palace and the Cathedral. Enjoy the
afternoon at leisure in Palermo, or join an optional tour to the
ancient coastal city of Cefalù ($49) (B): PALERMO
DAY 4, Tues This morning depart for Marsala, a city
famous for its namesake wine. Travel to one of the areas
historic wineries for a wine tasting before continuing to visit
the Valley of Temples, Juno, Concorde & Hercules (B, D):
AGRIGENTO
DAY 5, Wed Depart this morning to Piazza Armerina to view
the intricate mosaics of the Roman Villa del Casale, an UNESCO
World Heritage Site. Continue to Taormina, and enjoy the
remainder of the day at leisure (B): TAORMINA
DAY 6, Thurs Begin the day with a visit to the slopes of
Mount Etna -- the highest active volcano in Europe. Ascend the
Mount to reach the Silvestri Craters where you may walk about
the varied layers of lava which have solidified over the
centuries. In the afternoon, enjoy time at leisure in the upper
town of Taormina to browse the city’s shops and favored sites
(B): TAORMINA
DAY 7, Fri Enjoy a full day at leisure exploring Taormina
independently, or choose our optional visit to Siracusa. Known
for its legendary Spring of Arethusa, Siracusa is one of the few
modern cities in Sicily which manifests an obvious connection to
its ancient Greek past. Visit the archaeological park, the Roman
amphitheater, and the "Ear of Dionysus" ($69) (B): TAORMINA
DAY 8, Sat Transfer to the airport in Catania for your
departure flight (B).
